We talk about unrest in the Middle East and Wisconsin.
Bill O’Reilly and his odd tides statement, and surgery vs. naturopathic medicine. Tom rants and raves about Black Swan and 127 days. We both like Up in the Air, Tom gives it a 3.5, Cecil gives it a 3.8. Tom loves Toy Story 3 giving it a 4.6, Cecil gives it a 2.5.
Next Time: Inception and The Last Airbender.
Your Choices (pick 2)
Despicable Me
The A-Team
Machete
Takers
Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

I vote for Machete and Dispicable Me.
of the movies you listed, I’ve only seen Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which was great. not sure how the American remake will turn out.

Despicable Me. All I know about Machete is that it’s supposed to have Danny Trejo in it, which is good enough for my vote.
I like the idea that George Clooney’s character in Up in the Air was essentially fired from his relationship. After his “epiphany” and breakup, I personally have to assume that he got back in the saddle of his old self. Even people who get fired have to find a new job. In reality, most people recover from breakups to the point where it doesn’t change them so fundamentally.
Someone needs to tell Bill O’Reilly that he’s doing it wrong. In my house, when Tide goes in, clean clothes go out, not more Tide. Silly pundit.
I vote for Machete and the film that inspired the upcoming American film The Gurl What Had That Dragon Tattoo.
Machete. A-Team.
Ah, and a quick note: I don’t have a clue how things are in Europe vis a vis gun ownership. I live in Japan. That said, we’re on the same page.
Let’s go with Machete and A-Team. Despicable Me was fine, but nothing special.
Truly a seminal episode.
The flimsy veil has finally dropped, Tom.
Your reaction to Toy Story 3 and Up in the Air revealed you to be the passionate and emotional lump of quivering humanity that I’ve always suspected you were.
Cecil, on the other hand, is a truly terrible individual.
I absolutely hated the movie Grindhouse, so the idea of Machete leaves me cold. I never enjoyed the tv show The A Team either, so the idea of a movie adaptation leaves me colder. I’ve never heard of Takers, but I see that it stars Hayden Christensen…..ack.
So, for next time I vote for The Girl with the Dragon tattoo, and Despicable Me. I think Cecil would enjoy Despicable me more than Toy Story, it’s funnier for a start.
There’s yet another animation you might like to check out called The Illusionist.
It lost out to Toy Story at the Oscars, possibly because it’s altogether a more somber and grown up piece of work. Like Toy Story, though, it looks beautiful and is better animated in my opinion (give me well animated 2D over 3D any day of the week)
Three out of five of our movie choices sound absolutely terrible, so I’ll vote for the two that don’t: Despicable Me and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
I vote Machete & The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Some other Andy! Are you ok?? I hope that you aren’t glowing in the dark out there in Japan…
