17 01 2008

This Weeks Show:

We start by answering emails and get a little insight into some music on Tom’s IPOD. We also talk about Britney, Hillary and the commission on steroids. We review the three Lord of the Rings films. Tom and Cecil have some discrepancies but rate each movie about the same. Fellowship gets a 4.0 from Tom and Cecil rates it 3.8. The Two Towers gets slammed with a .15 by Tom and a 1.01 from Cecil. The Return of the King receives a 3.2 from Tom, while Cecil rates it a lower 2.6. We cover Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for critics on critics, and replay his “Mountaintop” speech. We finish with a reinterpretation of Gloria Estefan’s Turn the Beat Around.

On the Presidency: Are there any good candidates? Your comments leave no viable candidates.
On Congress: At least they aren’t screwing up more things! (That’s the libertarian in me.) Of course, this is a step up from the “expert testimony” from all those self-important actors and actresses on scientific matters no less.

On the Mountain: I found it very interesting that he would refer to being on the Mountain top. Dr. King alludes to Moses being taken up onto the mountain top where G_d shows him the Promised Land. (Numbers 27:12-14) What I find rather fascinating is that Moses was not permitted to enter the Promised Land. He was ordained to die before the people entered the Promised Land. Did Dr. King recognize that it would be his fate to die a martyr’s death? Was this the reason he chose that particular Biblical reference or was it simply a coincidence?
